Church History

On the Sunday morning of November 28, 2010, several members of The Greater New Life Praise and Worship Center accompanied Bishop Brian L Collins to the auditorium of Bond Mills Elementary School to consecrate and send forth his son in the gospel, Minister Jerome M. McLennon, as interim pastor of Prayer Tower Bible Way Apostolic Faith Church of Laurel Maryland with about 15 starting members.

“After many years of prayer, the Vision Has Become Visible.” declared Bishop Brian L. Collins. Prayer Tower Bible Way Apostolic Faith Church was to be an official affiliate of the Bible Way Churches World-Wide of Our Lord Jesus Christ, Incorporated. Prayer Tower Church regularly gathered and held bible studies, prayer meetings, and Sunday worship services led by Interim Pastor Jerome M. McLennon.

On Sunday, October 2, 2011, at 9:00 a.m. Prayer Tower Bible Way Apostolic Faith Church at 16001 Sherwood Avenue, Laurel, MD 20708, installed Elder Jerome M. McLennon as their Senior Pastor in front of a packed audience. The Lord added to the Church such as should be saved, and the church grew.  

In April 2015, Prayer Tower Bible Way Apostolic Faith Church opened its doors to its new worship space at 12 North Second Street, Laurel, Maryland, 20707. In Laurel, MD, the church started operating a community food bank program and clothing closet ministry to serve the surrounding communities.

During the Pandemic(Covid19), We opened our doors to help countless families receive food, masks, covid test kits, and information through community partnership. We kept online worship services and drive-in Sunday Worship.

In November 2021, the church moved its worship space from Laurel, MD, to 131 Midland Rd Glen Burnie, MD. We continue to operate a Mobile Food Van ministry in Laurel, MD., on Saturday mornings.

Over the years and to date, the church has seen the addition of people from all ages, races, and nationalities. The church’s motto continues to be “We are changing the lives” of families and individuals through effectual fervent praying” based on the scripture, James 5:16, and the foundational bible verse of the church, Proverbs 18:10, “The name of the LORD is a strong tower: the righteous runneth into it and is safe.”  The church’s mission continues to evangelize, discipline, and grow families and individuals with an authentic saving relationship in Christ Jesus our Lord.
